We had a nice quiet night at Lost Claim. We were up early and decided to have breakfast on the road. Our target was still Volcano, CA. We wandered along avoiding freeways until the GPS guided us to an unmaintained County road. With some reservations about pushing my luck with the Jeep, I decided risk did outweigh reward so we turned around. Volcano was out.
New target, Redwood Valley, CA. It must be near Redwood National Park, right?
Off we went, stomachs growling. Forgot about breakfast, whoa there’s an IHOP. Breakfast and Wi-Fi, I hope. Well breakfast anyway, Wi-Fi and WLAN were not behaving and I managed uploading three pictures during breakfast. RRRRR frustrating! I hastily got a text only blog draft uploaded as the picture uploads locked me out while they were loading.
We continued to Redwood Valley, which, from where we stopped was not a valley and had no redwoods. New target, Fort Bragg, Pacific Ocean here we come! CRUNCH, Sugar Honey Iced Tea! Damage assessment. Not bad, the rear bumper takes another hit.

More amazing valleys, passes, windy climbs and descents. California you are forgiven. We had an amazing drive through old forests which only gave way within the last few miles of the beach. The ocean at last, this is as far West as we come. We drove straight to the Pacific. The End.
We still needed camping, so we continued North along the coast road. We found a nice cove with public access and went down to the water. We were in a tsunami zone, so the signs warned!? We spent an hour here and I sent some photo-texts to gloat.
Moving on we found the first State campground full so we continued on the coast road passing up KOA and other more touristy/commercial campgrounds till we found paradise; a small 12 site State campground with no facilities, on the cliff above the ocean, the back of the Jeep facing due west, the Pacific our back yard. If I were a professional ballplayer I could hit the ocean with a rock. I am not and didn’t try.
It is chilly, it will be good sleeping tonight with a nice sunset to boot, I hope.
Bonus, just figured out how to capture stills from video. If only I had time to upload.
