If it's free it's for me.....

Tyler has been talking about Noah’s Ark Water Park since he discovered it in his 50 states book.  I assumed it was on the coast of Lake Michigan and well east of us.  I told him it was likely well behind us and we had lots to see.  When we had an internet signal he asked if I could look it up.  Lo and behold it was one hour due North of us in Wisconsin Dells.  I was wrong and we were off.
We arrived just after 9am and they had just opened.  Better than $30 a piece, an expensive day was ahead!  Noah’s Ark bills itself as the largest water park in the USA.   We spent six hours there, outlasting our sunscreen and sustaining two injuries (I scraped a knee, Ty bumped a tooth-both appear minor).
It was fun but I was anxious to get some miles in, there is so much too see!
We set out for St Croix Falls for several hours before stopping for dinner.  Ty got a couple good naps in on the way.  After dinner we changed direction and headed East towards Chequamegon National Forest, only to find  the signs for it absent.  When we finally found the entrance road to the Chippewa campground, we were greeted by a park under construction and closed.  It was now 8:30pm and some of the side forest roads were looking inviting. After another 30 minutes of driving East then North and West yet again chasing another N.F. campground that was not where the sign indicated it should be we stumbled upon Coopers Dam Conservation area.
Free!
We were quickly attacked by mosquitoes as we hastily built a fire.  Our first real night off the grid in the middle of nowhere or precisely here: 45.37789, -90.53456.
We heard coyotes tonight and Tyler has talked of nothing else since.  I told him we have them in our back yard too.
Zero cell/internet signal tonight, will post this Thursday as we pass through a small town on our way North.
