Harrison Lake

Today we drove almost all the way across Ohio.  We came upon and skipped Mosquito Lake S.P. for obvious reasons.   Our first stop to stretch our legs was in Cuyahoga Valley NP.  Tyler remembered his Mem and Pep riding a train through here on their trip, but we found the service had ended June 24 indefinitely for repairs. Lots of people on bikes here, most were obviously inexperienced and riding rentals, we had to be alert while ‘sharing’ the trail.
We also stopped for some mini-golf, I barely whooped Tyler, shooting a 51 to his 58.  We continued meandering westward, enjoying the fields of wheat, corn and soy.  We also swung through Toledo and I was disappointed to find the Jeep Parkway was paved…….I hoped it would have been gravel/dirt.

After Toledo we continued due West on Route 20 to Fayette where we stocked up on groceries before heading South for a swim at Lake Harrison and set up camp at….Harrison Lake S.P.   This will be night four in the truck.  At last check it was 90 degrees in the truck.  It will be hot.

Speaking of the truck, it did well today.  Several hours of sustained travel at 55mph mixed with stretches of stoplights through the smaller towns.  All at 85 degrees or better.  Gas mileage is still good too, better than 23mpg on our last leg.  That gives us a range of well over 500 miles without having to use our reserve 5 gallon tank.  Oil still looks good too.
